Great shoe! (not for the novice climber) By Agu from Houston, TX on 10/15/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, Weather Resistant Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Outdoor, Sprint Climbs Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As other reviewer stated, right out of the box you can feel the quality of these shoes. Sadly, these are not so good for a novice climber... like me. I just feel the shoe has a very aggressive fit, best for an experienced climber, but not for somebody like me who needs to wear them for a 2-3 hour practice of balance, foot placement, etc. without going through so much pain. So I guess this is just not the right time for me to be waiting weeks for a shoe to break in. I ordered half size BIGGER than my shoe size, tried them on, left them on for 20 min. and even knowing they're supposed to be tight to the point of hurting a bit, it was a bit too much for me, so put them back in the box ready to return them.
Bottom line; I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM IF YOU'RE A NOVICE CLIMBER. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM FOR A MORE ADVANCED CLIMBER.
great shoe at a great price By p rob. from milwaukee, wi on 10/02/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Bouldering, crack climbing, Indoor, Sprint Climbs Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: this is a great shoe that's attracted a lot of attention from everyone at the gym i go to. they all agree it would be a especially good for crack climbing, though i find it works for pretty much anything. the asymmetrical toe as well as the downturned profile is exactly what i was looking for.
the only problem i have with this shoe is that when you tighten up the velcro too much, the leather top folds up from the tension. the fold looks awkward, but more importantly, can make things uncomfortable.
leather stretches a lot more than synthetic does, so don't be afraid to go a few more sizes smaller.
By Apollo from Huntsville, Texas on 09/14/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Long Climbs, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I opened the product and not surprise at all because the shoes look just like the image on web.
Great shoes for steep stuff By David Couloir from Davis, CA on 09/09/2009 Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Sport Climbs Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I tried them only in the gym so far and they just feel great. The rubber is not as sticky as the stealth but probably more durable.
good quality, but sized too small By RJJ from Oakland, CA on 09/04/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these to use primarily at the gym, as I wasn't sure how the Velcro closure would hold up under full conditions. I hesitate to say anything about their climbing performance because they really didn't fit my feet. While I used to do a lot of edging at Smith, I'm no longer interested in crimping my toes for hours on end.
By Jim the Runner from San Jose, CA on 08/31/2009 Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My street shoe size is 43 (9.5) but I bought a 41 (8). They were painful at first but they quickly stretched out to a perfect fit. I recommend sizing down. The pointy toe is excellent for edging, and the rubber seems stickier than my previous climbing shoe, the Mad Rock Phoenix.
Great mid range climbing shoe By FRKK from Bogota, Col. on 08/11/2009 Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Perfect quality brand. The vision V are comfortable and easy to put on, the vibram xs works well.
By Seems EZ from So Ill on 08/07/2009 Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Outdoor Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I climb outdoors with these shoes and they are comfortable to wear around and to climb in. I would recommend these shoes for bouldering, cracks, routes and gym shoes. For the price you cant beat these shoes.
By Climbing Dave from Kittery, ME on 07/08/2009 Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good shoe if you have a narrow foot. They heel is vague. Precise foot work. I sized down considerably since they were unlined and have already stretched some.
By spago from ny on 06/21/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Long Climbs, Outdoor, Sprint Climbs Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: great shoe. great fit.. im size 11 and got 10.5, shoulddve went with a 10 for a more aggressive fit. ive been using them alot in the gym and only once outdoor, theyre holding up, it breaks in well and the lacing system is easy to don and doff the shoe. also it dries quicker than some other snoes, definitely not as good with edging as all my five10's but still a fav for the gym
