By eTastic from Pittsburgh, PA on 04/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Cute, Durable Sole, Soft, Warm Best Uses: Camping, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are excellent shoes for outdoor warmth if you spend time in temperatures under 30 degrees. They are also windproof in my experience so far (havn't gotten beyond 20mph winds/10 degrees, but they were great for that) It's the equivalent of wrapping your feet in a down sleeping bag but with padding and traction for the sole.
Unlike my REI booties, these don't have a fleece lining, so they have to be worn with socks, but the soles are great for traction and slushy snow (my other booties are also not waterproof on the bottom, but these are).
My one caution with these, THEY ARE BULKY AND WEIGH MORE THAN YOU EXPECT. If you are backpacking for a few days and really need the space, the entry level model from North Face or REI are definitely a better bet if you need to save the space/weight. If you are backpacking short term, or are car camping, or like to sit on your deck in the winter around a fire, these bad boys are absolutely fantastic.
