I ran a 10 mile run on roads and trails the first time i wore them to break them in. Really did not need much break in. Great shoe for day hiking and running good trails. By One eyed Tom from Naperville, IL on 08/22/2009 Best Uses: Backcountry, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The most heal padding I've found in a Trail Running shoe in years. I was leary of the North Face brand, but I bought 2 more pairs after I ran in these shoes the first time. I even bought a pair for my college running son who is having heal problems for use in cross country. We'll see how well they wear and how long the cushioning lasts. Until then, I may buy another pair !
