By AE from Naples, FL on 10/06/2009 Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a very pretty press/mug, and a lovely idea, but it just doesn't work. The idea with a PRESS is that it should PRESS the coffee grounds down, allowing the liquid to rise without all the grit. The rod in the middle of the lid/press is simply too short. You'd have to fill the cup halfway up with grounds in the first place to get a tight press. The gasket isn't tight enough to keep them from flowing up into the liquid, so you get a nice hot, chewy cup of coffee every time. I've never seen a french press that missed the point more completely. I'm returning it.

Does not work effectively By SAM from Blacksburg, VA on 07/08/2009 Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This product does not function correctly. After trying several methods and following directions very carefully I still cannot keep from drinking coffee grounds, which is not acceptable. I would NOT recommend this product.

By Terry from APO, AE on 06/18/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Bright, Durable, Unique Cons: Complicated, Not dishwasher safe, Slow Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got this to work o.k. but has to carefully follow the directions. First you boil water someplace and put the water and coffee in the mug. Then you carefully put the lid on for two to four minutes to let it brew. Then you carefully and slowly push down the plunger. Then, to stop the brewing, you slide the lid into the open position. From the instructions: "This releases the sealing disk that will slide down and secure the grounds, keeping your beverage full of flavor without overbrewing. You can even add cream and sugar without removing the lid." The coffee did not have grounds in it but the whole process was somewhat complicated. I think the mugs would be good for camping but I don't think I will bother with it for everyday use. For that I'll stick with my manual Melitta.
By Otto Von Bisfart from Chicago on 05/28/2009 Pros: Delightfully cumbersome Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The product simply does not work; the press valve is smaller in diameter than the mouth of the mug, so when it is submergered, the grinds easily rush into the drinking chamber, conducive to a vexingly crunchy cup of joe.
It works, but not as well as it might. By coffee hound from buffalo wy on 05/24/2009 Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: It works as advertised, although the instructions for the washer that "stops brewing" are not clear. That, and the plunger/strainer only goes about half way down the tumbler, giving you about 8 oz of coffee. To get the rest, you have to figure out a way to strain the grounds out. Don't see any use in a 14 oz mug that produces 8 oz of drinkable coffee. A better design would be to make it smaller, with straight sides so the strainer would go all the way to the bottom.
