It will be easier to snug up the laces when they've broken in a bit.

By Debi from TN on 10/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Lightweight Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was surprised at how light and flexible these boots are! I can bend the toe zone with one hand while it stays rigid in the arch where you need support. My kids say they are "nice and comfy". These boots have raised eyes to lace through and while the laces don't slide as easily through these as with other styles, I don't find it especially difficult either. The kids have gotten them very wet and no sign of staining on the suede so that's a huge plus! Also, there is a section of abrasion-resistant material at the toe which should help keep them looking nice.
The laces on the navy pair are too long (the brown/orange pair has the right length) but not so much that I feel I need to replace them.

She really liked the red color. She says they never made her feet hurt and that they were lightweight. She also felt that they were comfortable right out of the box and didn't require any break-in time. I was hoping to find something reasonably priced and expected to pay $50 or more to get what I needed. These were well worth the money I spent on them, considering I that I decided to buy these at the last minute [...]

By Professor Ed from New Milford CT on 07/11/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight Cons: Hard to cinch up laces Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My daughter found the boots comfortable on hikes. I found it a bit difficult to cinch the laces tight because it requires threading through plastic lace pegs. Wish the pegs were the hook-type found on adult hiking boots.
Rivet broke while trying on By STE from Albany, NY on 06/20/2009 Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Put these on my son's feet for the first time, was tightening them to see if they fit, and one of the rivets that anchors the things that hold the laces in place (instead of eyelets) broke. Had to send them back.
