This is not a substantial boot even though it carries the Columbia brand. The fit would be a bit more snug (snow would not get in) if it had a zipper or a front entry with velcro wrap closures. It has a stretch opening in the back, which if I had known that, I would never have purchased these. But, for the price, it was not worth returning. I would not send my child to play in the snow in these boots but they are adequate for sending her off to school.

That being said, they are 2 1/2 yrs old and LOVE pulling these boots on by themselves and running through the house. All I can figure is that they are comfortable and will certainly be warmer than regular play shoes.

My two-year-old generally hates new shoes. These he put right on and has been wearing indoors for the past week. We haven't had the chance to use them outdoors, so I'm not sure about their warmth yet. But it's very neat that my son can pull these on and take them off on his own. He loves them.
