Tricker's markets these as a country boot, and maybe if you hang around with British royals your friends might be fashionable enough to raise their eyebrows if you wear them in town. But here in America these boots can take you from mucking out horses to the office. Perfectly acceptable for all but the most formal occasions - you would need to get down to ankle level to determine that these were anything other than a pair of high-end wingtip shoes.
The boot boasts obviously high quality leather, beautiful, perfect brogueing, silky leather lining,a comfortable and supportive footbed, and a tough Dainite rubber sole. Should the sole ever wear out (which seems unlikely given how dense and resilient the rubber is) Tricker's can replace it, since the shoes are Goodyear welted.
The dainite sole is a little stiff, and is not as refined as a leather sole, but it's perfect for unpleasant weather, and certainly doesn't look clunky or ungainly.
The fit is slightly roomy since the boots are meant to be worn with thick socks. I'm an American 10.5 and I ordered UK size 10, and the boots fit perfectly with nice medium-weight wool socks.
You simply don't see shoes of this quality in anything but the highest-end stores. Just amazing!
Tricker's - Incredible boots for Royalty By jdNYC from New York on 11/05/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: High-end shopper, Stylish Sizing: Feels full size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My second pair of Tricker's and both are great. The boots are not as wide as my shoes, but always order one full size smaller.

A great casual "dress boot" By Doc4 from Canada on 10/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel, Wet Weather, Work Describe Yourself: Conservative, High-end shopper, Stylish Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very nice dress boots. These are a bit more "casual" than other dress boots I have, in that the last seems to have a slightly bulbous rounded toe, less elegant than others I have seen (so the more discriminating may not want to wear these with a suit). Other than that, they are excellent in materials and construction, although I would have liked "quick release" hooks rather than eyelets on the upper part of the boot.

Fit like an 11.5D American-made dress shoe or a size 12 US sneaker.
The nut brown color is great. After wearing them about five times in two weeks, they have already begun to display the subtle variations in color and texture that give high-quality leather its appealing depth and color. I will use leather conditioner regularly and on occasion, cream polish in different medium-brown colors.
They look great with jeans, but I will also wear them as office shoes, especially on wet-weather days, with chinos, cords, and tweedy office pants. I would not wear them with a suit but I would with any other casual or business casual outfit.
From a distance, most people think they are regular dress shoes. The sole is not clunky or obviously equipped for mountain climbing, like most ugly boots.
Great boots -- well worth the cost. Was very happy to find them at such a discount here on STP.
Old World British Style & Comfort By Art Deco Man from New York City on 10/20/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Stable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Work Describe Yourself: High-end shopper, Stylish Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've always wanted to own a superbly handmade, classy, very high quality pair of casual boots, practically lifers, but at a terrific price. Well, this is it. Though British made the leather is durable yet flexible, with a hint of Italian style, fashionwise - timeless, perfect for casual wear and at the office. The downside is that this may not be the type of boot you'd wear during the winter. And as for any high-quality item, you've got to apply the necessary "elbow grease" maintenance to make it last the way it was meant to last.

I wish I could justify buying both colors so that I could wear them two days in a row. They're comfortable right out of the box and look stunning. I am a US 10D and the 9 fit me just about right.
