They are very true to size - I normally purchase a size 4 and these shorts fit perfectly but there is no room for weight gain! If I had to state a "con", it would be that the color limits shirts that look good with these shorts.

Haven't washed 'em so maybe they'd soften up a little. The red color is beautiful. They are more for polite wear as opposed to knocking around on a trail or going to the park. I wouldn't get them again, but would recommend them if you're not a real outdoorsy kind of person.
