Wool Cycling Jersey on a budget By TTT from Tulsa, OK on 11/13/2009 Best Uses: Bad Weather, Commuting Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I now have four wool jerseys and want more. Canari produced a high quality and long lasting jersey in both the Paris or La Mongie. I have owned a La Mongie for more than a year and it is going strong. I launder the wool jerseys along with the synthetic jerseys on gentle cycle. I love wool, and was amazed to find wool bike shirts. In the winter they provide more warmth than a synthetic shirt, but I also wear them through the summer (in Okla.). I am a recreational cyclist, with rides of 10 to 50 miles.
wow! execlent wool cycling jersey By Steveo from Everett,Wa on 10/29/2009 Pros: Affordable, Breathable, Lightweight Best Uses: Bad Weather, Commuting, Layering, Mountain Biking, Road Racing Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Awesome wool jersey! I bought one of these in the summer because (#1) of the price, used it washed it a couple of times and am very pleased of this American product. For me the weight is perfect(lightweight) so while visiting Reno,NV I droped in to STP and bought another jersey to pull over the other one if need be.I have alot of wool jerseys but most of them are are very thick for very winter conditions and i tend to overheat in them @ around the 40-50 Degree mark, this jersey was perfect for me!I would buy more!
By cycling commuter from Michigan on 10/20/2009 Cons: Very thin A tad coarse Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It's ok, I'm keeping it as a layering jersey. It's too thin though. Wool jerseys from a couple of decades ago were thick and would last. I'm not sure how long this one will last though. A good bargain in the basement anyhow.
By Shawn from Boise, ID on 09/10/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Good Pockets and Features, Lightweight Best Uses: Mountain Biking, Road Racing Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very comfortable. Especially nice on cooler mornings
A bit toooo warm for Florida By Mom of Boys from Florida on 09/08/2009 Pros: Durable, Good Pockets and Features Best Uses: Mountain Biking, Road Racing Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this for its bright color...I thought from others comments that I could get away with the wool...I found the shirt to not breath well and I felt a bit over heated...I think that the shirt would perfet in a cooler climat, but is to warm for Southern Florida...next time I will hold out for different fabric(as per husband)
By notlance from CID on 09/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Cool when dry, Don't stink like plastic, Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight, Warm when wet Best Uses: Bad Weather, Base layer, Casual Wear, Commuting Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: There is nothing better than a good wool jersey, and this is a good wool jersey at a great price. This is a fine wool and not itchy at all. Wool does not stink after a day's ride so it's perfect for multi-day tours when you can't wash it every day. Much warmer than a plastic jersey when you get caught in the rain. Get the Lime; it's very bright but that's what you want, right? Doubles as a base layer when it's really cold out. Buy one larger than you need it and just throw it in the wash and dryer on low heat. If it shrinks then it's no be deal.
By Jenny Craig from Kettering, Ohio on 08/31/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Good Pockets and Features, Lightweight Best Uses: Bad Weather, Mountain Biking, Road Racing Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this shirt in size medium and in the color stone. I would just like to say that I love this color. It's very understated yet esthetically pleasing (most cycling jerseys tend to be loud colors). I also like the low profile duck pocket and zip neck. The zip allows you to vent when needed, and the duck pocket could probably easily carry a water bottle (but is probably designed to carry smaller items). Another feature that I absolutely love about the garment is the longer length of the sleeves. Typically active wear T-shirts have shorter sleeves and they can ride up, bunching under your armpits (especially when worn under another garment). This can be hot and uncomfortable. The longer sleeves of this garment virtually eliminates that problem. I had just few problems with the garment. I know that it's designed to have a tight fit, with that said I still think the sizes are overly optimistic. I am about 5'11, 200lbs and I have a 39/40 chest, and I could barely fit in the medium (which supposed to be 40-42). I gave the shirt away, and will be ordering a large. Another thing that I took issue with (though this is really just nitpicking) is the fact that the merino wool that this garment is constructed of is just bit scratchier than other merino garments I've used. This isn't that big of a problem, and merino garments usually soften after just a couple of washings. Overall this is a pretty versatile shirt with a lot of nice features. I don't intend to use it while cycling. I will be using it as a lightweight baselayer garment in cooler weather but I would imagine that it would be great for it's intended use.
By Arlington cyclist from DC Metro Area on 08/26/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Lightweight Cons: Zipper could be longer Best Uses: Commuting, Mountain Biking Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my first wool cycling jersey. It's very lightweight and I've worn it for a week now commuting with daytime highs in the mid to upper 80s and fairly high humidity. It is just as comfortable as my regular cycling jerseys. This model is cut loose and has a large rear zippered pocket, would have preferred the traditional two or three, unzippered. Would also have preferred the zipper to be two to three inches longer, but got it for a great price.
By joe blow from boulder on 08/11/2009 Pros: Breathable, Good Pockets and Features, Lightweight Best Uses: Bad Weather, Casual Wear, Commuting, Mountain Biking Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great price for a merino wool jersey. Thin but well constructed (flat stitched seems). It somewhat itchy (at the seems) but not a problem for me
Comes with a roomy mesh lined zippered back pocket
The stone is bland and dull and highlights wrinkles, the lime is bright -- even brighter than on the computer if you can believe that -- and the blue is just right.
Same as la mongie only without stripe. Stripe is only on the front and looks just ok - I like the paris better but am getting one of each at this price.
