No need to hem. Ex Officio for a great price. We're hiking to Machu Picchu AND going to the jungle, with not much availability of laundering facilities, so these are perfect for hot, warm, & cool climes & can be washed and dried quickly.
Good pants, weird mesh lining By Hiker from New York on 05/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good pants for the price, but the inside mesh lining, which is similar to the lining in some men's bathing suits, is uncomfortable. The lining is so oddly placed that it is especially uncomfortable if you're wearing boxer type underwear; even if you wear briefs the lining is uncomfortable. So, two options: 1) Don't wear underwear and let the mesh lining serve that purpose, 2) cut out the lining and get rid of it, which is what I'm going to do.

He has had a previous pair and loved them. We ordered his usual size , but this time these pants didn't fit at all. We had to reorder a medium. He is 5'7" and has a 30 inch waist.Except for that he loves the pants

By Rockin Robin from St. Charles, IL on 04/09/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just wore a pair of these three days straight on a 17 mile hike in the Mark Twain National Forest and they were exceptional. Very comfortable and really repelled soil well. It got pretty cold and windy and with just my base layer and these pants I was fine. Oh, and I also cut out the mesh briefs as alot of other people did, they don't make much sense unless you're only going to hike in hot weather.
