Stinkiest new pair of socks ever!!! By Teton Tim from Jackson, WY on 11/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Stylish, Wicks Away Moisture Cons: Stinky smelly, Unbelievable stench Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking, Hunting Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wow! Surprise of a lifetime when I opened that bag. I thought it was kind of odd that all three pair of SmartWools I ordered came on their normal card...but the Lorpen pair was in its own plastic bag. The quality of these socks is awesome as everyone else has noted...but holy moly, what an awful stench when new. I saw one reviewer noted that one pair smelled like incense--I could see where maybe this was some kind of crazy incense smell...but it seemed almost more chemical...if not deadly. Instantly washed them by hand repeatedly and I'm hoping they can be de-odored.
By ATM from Indianapolis on 11/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Cushy, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Excellent socks. I bought these for cool weather bird hunting and used opening weekend in high temps. Socks worked very well at wicking moisture, feel very comfortable and appear well made. No rough seams, bunching or anything else. Can't comment on durability but their socks!
Good buy and a good price.
The proof is at the end of the day By StoneHendge from Avon, CO on 11/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Due to the high wool content, these feel a little rough when you take them out of the drawer and first put them on (especially compared to most socks that have a much higher synthetic content). That is soon forgotten. They have good support, don't sag and stay snug. On technical terrain, I notice the shortcomings of my boots but not these socks (they are actually better without a liner). We'll see how they do in the winter, but thus far they have been warm on cool mornings and stay cool when the sun gets hot and the trail starts to bake. To me, socks are like an airplane flight or a taxi ride. If there's nothing to complain about, then they've done an excellent job. Thats the case here since I forget which socks I have worn until I take my boots off at the end of the day.

By Jon from Dupont, WA on 10/05/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Cushy, Durable, Good Design, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking, Mountaineering, Travel Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've tried them all; somewhat of a sock fetish. STP has some of the best trekking sock's on the market. Bridgedale Smartwool, X Bionic and Rohner to name a few. I make a living wearing the best and most comfortable socks that are available to the public. Now that STP carries the Lorpen Trekking Sock, its by far my favorite! Hope I left enough in their inventory so you can enjoy them too!
