Wore this hiking in a monsoon and clothing did not get wet at all. The hood comes with a "bill" which helps keep the rain out of the eyes.

Comments:
This jacket was just what I was looking for! Got it the day we started a weekend soccer tournament in the rain and it did a great job of keeping me dry. Also great for walking the dog in the rain. Zippered pockets and breast pocket are very nice. Extremely lightweight so that worn by itself it doesn't weigh you down. Cons for me (definitely did not outweigh the pros) were a) the sleeve cuffs were a little cheap and weren't what I have on other Columbia jackets; b) I wish the hood was hideable; c) I wore it when it was warm and it didn't breathe too well--had it been cooler I would have been happier.

This is especially good because it folds down to a small size, perfect for a college student's backpack. My son is very pleased with this jacket.

Beautiful jacket. Nice construction. I bought a larger size to ware layers under it. I has not rained since receiving it, but I did put it on for extra warmth while camping in the mountains.

Good jacket. Fits well. Warm and a very good hood. It is not breathable though. after 20minutes walking the slieves were soaking with sweat. therefore can be uncomfortable.

I love the internal "vest" of insolation built in to go with the waterproofness. That makes it a 2 in 1 for me, one less layer to carry and I always like a bit of extra warmth when it is raining. Packable too!
