Appropriate for office wear, but they also work for more casual occasions.
Good value on a gnarly loafer By El Jefe from Wenatchee, WA on 08/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Whether at work or home, I seek freedom from the tyranny of shoelaces. If you are like me, you probably have a closet full of loafers too. Some are easy to slip on, but tend to fly off when sprinting up stairs or running from an angry mob. Others "stay put on the foot" but are a struggle to slide into. These loafers strike a nice balance, being both fairly easy to access yet able to stay on reliably during bursts of violent activity.
With the lugged sole, they are definitely a casual shoe, best suited to walking on unpaved ground. The two-tone effect is subtle. Not a trendy, retro saddle-shoe attention-grabbing flourish, but more of a quiet, dignified variation on the otherwise visually boring loafer look. They are dark, and would look great with jeans or darker colored chinos, but if paired with shorts and pasty white legs would expose the wearer to audible sniggering, if not open mockery. This from personal experience.
All told, a fine shoe at a good price.

By Bluhawk from Pawling, NY on 08/09/2009 Cons: Too Stiff, Uncomfortable Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Style Driven Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice lokking shoe, but it does not run true to sixe.
I ordered a 9.5 anf took the only width (M) available.
It was too tight so I'm sending it back for a 10 and I'll see how that works?
Nice looking shoe, but ........ By bluhawk from Pawling, NY on 08/08/2009 Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Style Driven Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered a size 9.5, but it was too tight, so I'm returning it for a size 10 with the hope that it will feel better. Appears to be too narrow as well, but it only comes in one width.

Typical Columbia quality. Not only do they look and feel good but will do so for a long time. Great for work if you need a comfortable, good looking shoe that will take some abuse. Excellent soles for those outside alot.
