Enough sole padding for all-day comfort standing/walking on hard surfaces, but a lighter-weight top with friction guard over the instep. Wool doesn't wick rain. Nice colors. Low tops are helpful in boots, but crew length would work better for low shoes.

I am a size 9.5 and I wear the medium in Smartwool socks. It is a perfect fit. I started out w/ just 1 pair and now I have 6. You can wear them all day and they don't get saggy or feel uncomfortable at the end of the day. Plus, you can't find these prices in stores. I'm purchasing some for my husband too.
