I've been looking for a waxed cotton Barbour-like jacket for years but I could never afford one. This jacket has everything you'd want in waxed cotton jacket. Its warm, perfect for ny fall, and I can't wait to test its water-repellency. Bonuses are the price and the plaid is great because its different from the green waxed cotton coats you see everywhere.
Warning though these jackets are big in the chest, so order your regular jacket size. They're made to accomodate layers, so don't order a size up if you intend to wear sweaters under it.

I was concerned about it being a 46-48 because I'm a 48, and it fit, but without enough room to move comfortably. The stitching also looked about to unravel and the whole thing overall looked cheap. It was a really heavy fabric, though, and would probably be great in a hurricane on a fishing boat, but not what I needed for walking around my suburban neighborhood. I returned it.

I exchanged it for another 2 sizes larger but haven't received it yet.

Many useful pockets and features. Waxed fabric is not necessarily waterproof. The lightweight flannel lining and outer fabric makes the jacket heavier than it appears to be and quite warm.

Jacket is not intended to be a winter coat -- just a stylish three-season jacket to withstand inclement weather. Never had to reproof mine, but it's recommended every 3-yrs. However, I can't find the recommended product - Spinifex 500 Reproofing Compound.
