Lightweight, flexible sole By Hike and Bird from Harrisonburg, VA on 10/08/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Flexible, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The feel of this shoe is a bit more like a climbing shoe than of a heavy, stiff-soled supportive hiking boot and as a result my feet do feel the rocks and gravel. The shoes' first hike was today, about 3 miles with slope on fairly even terrain with some smallish rocks. Feeling the terrain was more of a nice sensation than discomfort. Others may not agree! I suspect the sole's flexibility gave my feet a better workout than they get in my usual stiff-soled hiking footwear, and I like the light weight. Fit is typical of Lowas, which work well for my sort-of wide foot. 7 fits me well; in Merell I need 7.5, New Balance 7.5 Wide.
