I can't say anything about durability yet, but I've been very happy with other Mountain Hardwear items. Sizing seems accurate. I usually wear a 4, and the small fits, feels and looks great. It gives me room to layer a fleece or sweater underneath (as a shell should) without looking too bulky.
By GSDLuver from Davis, CA on 10/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Cons: Need a little more room Best Uses: Casual Wear, daily use, Dog walking, Hiking, Rainy days, Windy Days Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Walking the dogs Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this jacket, although I could use just a tad more room around the torso and hips. I ordered the medium because that's my normal size (I'm 5'6" and 135#), but waivered between the medium and large based on the reviews. I went with the medium and it fits well, but I think I would be a little happier if it was a little looser. I am comfortable wearing a fleece over cotton top underneath the jacket, but don't know if one more layer would be too tight. Since the jacket is quite warm by itself, and very stylish, I'm quite happy with my purchase and will be keeping the jacket. Oh...and I absolutely LOVE the hood!
By GenevieveII from Twin Cities, MN on 10/22/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Hiking, Many options for layering Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered a half dozen different shells with pit zips and double zippers, sure I would choose one of the high-end gore-tex pro products, but I loved this one. It packs very small and light. I can't speak of the conduit material's durability, but the instructions anticipate a long product life. This jacket is fully lined with smooth, lightweight fabric or mesh which I think will protect the special breathable outer from much friction from me and my clothes within (my old gore-tex [10 years old] lost waterproof properties by becoming unlaminated where it rubbed against me most).
The fit appears close-tailored over light clothes or a fleece jacket, but I was able to put this on over a heavy wool duffel coat, which I may opt to do in very wet cold conditions (Perhaps because of the black color this did not look so odd as I supposed it would). This jacket was $50-220 less than others I considered, and is slimming. Happy camper.
Beautiful Parka...Just Too Small By Redhead in Virginia from Arlington, VA on 10/16/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels too small Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The parka met all my expectations, except for me, it was too small to layer with fleece beneath. The sleeves are also a tad too long for me. I am a medium and have long arms. For me, the best feature is the length of the parka...it's longer than most parkas and will keep you extra warm! The purple color is outstanding, and it is very well made. It was very difficult for me to have to return it.

However, it fits too closely for me to layer much underneath. Feeling sad about returning it, but it just wouldn't work.
