Another Mountain Hardwear Great Jacket By Jambenlam from Tiger OK on 10/19/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Most MH jackets that I buy are used for early morning conditioning work. This jacket will be used for causal wear. I have no doubt it could hold up most extreme conditions that I may encounter; however, jacket will be my going out on the town coat. I have at least four other MH jackets (soft/hard shell) and this jacket is very much on par with those as well. Buy the jacket.
By Disappointed Sierra Customer from Philadelphia on 10/13/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: [...] I didn't keep the jacket but did try it on and examine it. Essentially it's a fleece zipped into a shell. I suppose that is insulation but you can do that with any shell so this one is nothing special. There are much better shells out there and you can achieve the same insulation with any combination of layers -- including your own fleece.
By Montanaski&sail from Missoual Montana on 10/09/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Pro's - This is designed for winter sports, with a lot of great pockets, underarm venting,a flip down pass holder, is warm, light & highly weather resistant. I like the smooth lining, its easy to slip on and won't bind up when layered up. The hood fits well with or without a helmet on, just snug it up with the well designed single pull. I have tried a lot of jackets and this compares with the best out there.
Con's- well to be perfect for me, I would add mesh covering on the pit zips, a cinch on the collar to use when you zip off the hood. I also like inside wrist gaiters that I have seen on some other M.H coats. Also the fabric is not stiff, but this coat made with M.H. Sycro soft shell material would be even better.
