By none from NM on 11/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great boot. Too narrow as I wear a wider shoe. Will keep it and see how it goes...everything else about them are awesome. Very sturdy and they have a "clean" look.
By mthiker from Montana on 11/07/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I need room in the boot for some arthritic toe joints. These wide boots fit the bill. I did add a gel arch and wear a liner with my boot socks - then it is a great fit. I like stiff boots for the type of hiking I do. I have tried dozens of boots, most of which would not even accomadate my enlarged toe joints, others just had grommet over the joints or just not enough toe box. I got a second pair of these boots since I could get them to fit so nicely. (Note - I couldn't even wear the regular width barefooted, I have a normal width foot).
By Mom who loves the great outdoors from Salt Lake City, UT on 11/05/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: So my all leather Raichle boots finally bit the dust on my last back packing trip. I have had them for 12 years on lots of hiking and backpacking trips. But it took 3 years(ouch) to break them in. The montrail boots fit like my Raichles after 12 years. But I did go with a wide width. I do not have wide feet but the montrails fit narrow to me. I also go with a half size bigger in hiking boots becuase I find that on backpacking trips if I wear a thin sock and a thicker sock I don't get blisters. Seem like a well built boot. After I put them to the test, I will let you know.
By tree hugging dirt worshiper from Phx, AZ on 11/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear these everyday landscaping and they are great so far. A little time to break them in and it's all good. Perfect timing, because it is cold in the am now.
Just what I was looking for By LB from Atascadero, CA on 10/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted boots that I could wear walking through dry grasslands and not collect grass seed (as do many boots that are part nylon). I wore these boost for two days and did not bring any seed home with me. They went from the box to the field with no discomfort. I would try this brand again.
By zapr from San Juan island , Washington on 10/28/2009 Pros: Durable, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Stiff inner sole. Required additional cushioning and arch support. But a good sturdy boot for clearing trails and hiking.
By KC from Memphis, TN on 10/28/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Shoe liner wrinkled, Stiff Best Uses: Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: My first issue was that the fabric shoe liner near the arch support was wrinkled in one of the shoes to the point that you can feel it when you're wearing the shoes. I've only hiked in the boots once (I wore them around for a few hours a day for a week to break them in). I got a blister on my heel after only 30-45min of hiking. I also had a bit of trouble getting them tied tight enough. However, I have high hopes for them once they are broken in better!
By hikerjo from Seattle, WA on 10/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for a friend who reports they fit great and were comfortable on her first hike with them. She previously had the Classic Montrail Torre, and is just as happy with these. I wish Sierra Trading Post would have an 8 1/2 wide for me!!
Frustrated Boot Shopper!! By Bootless Woman from Crosslake, MN on 10/21/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Boot feels like it is a mile too big!!! This is the third boot (all different brands) ordered in my size that have not fit! Why can't sizes be consistant?!?
Still Good Boots but miss the old style By Trekker from Black Hills, SD on 10/05/2009 Pros: Durable, Great price on sale, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Not all leather upper, Stiff Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm an archaeological technician with the Forest Service. I spent a LOT of time hiking through rough terrain, in the moutains, through streams, through old forest fires with downed trees. I haven't been able to use these new Montrail Torre GTX as I'm still on my Classic Torre from 2007. The classic Torre was more comfortable upon first wear. I'm hoping the new Torre with more syntheic upper will loosen up and become as comfortable as the old classic Torre.
