versatile design, choose size carefully By tees_riot from Mid-west on 07/15/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I read many of these reviews and ordered a half size to large due to all the comments. Turns out the pair I received was a half size too large....I rate these as true to size on that basis. Great Montrail mid-high and versatile sole/tread design.
By Oscar from New Smyrna Beach, FL on 07/15/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I am normally a size 11. I read the reviews and ordered an 11 1/2. Still too small. They were returned. Didn't seem heavy duty enough for my hiking.
Very Breathable mid height hikers By Don from Stratford,CT on 07/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted a little more ankle support after I sprained an ankle but didn't want to wear the 6" boots I have, for both pairs are a little warm in the hot weather. I noticed these were rated a very breathable and they are. They give just enough extra ankle support without being heavy or hot. I got one of the last reddish brown color pairs and I'm not crazy about their looks. I ordered a 1/2 size larger because of reviews. It just about fits because my feet are fairly narrow, others will need a full size larger. I don't know about durability as yet.
By hiker from Catskills ,NY on 07/04/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Prior to placing my order I read the reviews ; many found the shoe to be a size too small . By camping nut from Orlando Fl. on 07/03/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I cannot bash nor praise had to return them, they were about a size too small. Footbed seemed comfortable. they also appeared well made and sturdy. Unfortunatly I wear a size 14 and no size 15's available. I would only recommend these if you are able to order 1 size up.
By Captain Obvious from Cerritos, CA on 06/24/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are terrific; comfortable, supportive, no breaking in.
I'll be using them on the Haute Route (Chamonix to Zermatt)
By Bubba from N.E. Ohio on 06/23/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted a light weight and breathable boot. These filled the bill perfectly. Until I tried them on. They feel at least a full size small, and at the very least, a size narrow. Since there were none in my corrected size, I can't say anymore.
By Shi Dog from Burlington Vermont on 06/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great every day shoe or day hiker. I bought the Montrails because of their unique footbed. I have owned other Montrails in the past and always liked the fit in the foot bed. The only issue to me with these shoes is the breathability. My feet seem to sweat a bit more in these than in others.
