It is made to have most of your stuff outside of the bag so if that's not your style than this bag is not for you. It can easily hold up 45 pounds but not so good for longer hikes as it doesn't have a internal frame. It will be good for skiing too. It is very comfortable and stable. Has great flexibility of loading. I have only had it a month and still trying to figure out all the straps, buckles, and tighteners.
