Lightweight, good value, long raincoat By Mike G from San Ramon, CA on 11/02/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Metropolitan commutes Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is another well executed jacket from Barbour. It has a great fit (similar to the Beaufort) but at a longer, knee length for inclement weather. The fabric is a lightweight cotton backed by a waterproof membrane. It is lined in the classic Barbour tartan plaid and has corduroy lining the collar and sleeve cuffs.
For Barbour enthusiasts, this jacket is not made with the heavier weight waxed cotton or oil cloth. The outer fabric is lighter weight (almost a heavy shirting cloth) and is machine washable. The lining is tartan but this fabric is a whisper weight, perforated, mesh type polyester that is similar to the liner in an alpinist waterproof jacket.
Overall, it is a great jacket for city wear but probably not something for a more rugged setting.
