By Anthony from Colorado, Kansas on 11/13/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Everyday, Harsh Terrain Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great boot. This is is my second pair. The first pair had a defect and the stiching came apart. But the warrenty dept. at la sportiva was great and origionally gave me my money back, with no questions asked. I use these boots daily for work and are great for climbing ladders, poles, or just getting in and out of trucks. Spoil yourself while you can... They are not making this boot anymore.

Good to use years round. Not a boot that you would want just for hiking. These boots are made for serious mountaineering. They work very well with crampons. I have climbed winter peaks in the san Jauns, and Mount Rosa in Switz.erland
Great Mountaineering Boot By Colorado guy from Denver Colorado on 11/08/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Crampons, Great Traction, Mountaineering, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This Boot can take anything you throw at it! I have used them with a pair of MSR snowshoes on a all day hike with no problems. I used them with crampons and they performed great. This is not the kind of boot you "break in", very stiff and rugged. Made for serious Mountaineering.
By SARSteve from Santa Barbara, CA on 10/24/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Heavy, Long Break-in Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: SAR EMT Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am an EMT on a local SAR team; have been comparing boots with full, 3/4 and 1/2 shanks for a couple of months: last purchase was a pair of Zamberlan and this years model of this La Sportiva.
The Zamberlan are designed for lighter hiking: very comfortable out of the box, but did not like how low the boot was for ankle support. I tried to steer away from the La Sportiva only due to its heavy weight, but at this awesome price, and their known durability, I could not pass them up!
These are last years model that have been discontinued, and have 3/4 shanks. Very comfortable (I have a flat arch), and, despite its initial extreme stiffness (not to be understated), I was finally able to bend them to see where the shank ends and where it will bend once they are broken in: looks perfect for my 45 boot size. FYI, the Zamberlan had to be a size 46 for width, so I am very pleased these fit my wide feet better.
I may have to purchase a second pair before they are all sold out!
Third year purchasing from Sierra Trading Post: perfect record!
