Heavy duty material, it has a padded bottom and the top of this bag has a internal frame so when you open it it holds open. I think that is why they call it a Gator bag it kind of looks like an open alligators mouth!
Wife keeps checking this bag out to use it as a purse. you can open it and see everything inside since the top opens so wide.
The pockets on the outside are great for a waterbottle.
