Wanted to Buy More than 1 Pair By Danoindenver from Denver, CO on 11/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These seem a bit stiff out of the box. But with a little manual "flexing" they instantly became flexable. The best part is the stability of the shoe! I need all I can get. [...] The BOA lacing system is an excellent feature!
By drum daddy from Little Rock, AR on 11/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I broke these shoes in at Disneyworld in Florida. They proved to be very comfortable and durable. I noticed that the BOA strands have damaged the shoe around the tongue, but not enough to cause alarm. The BOA is easy to use and very strong. I highly recommend these North Face shoes.
By Mark_myword from Boston on 11/03/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I didn't really get to use this shoe. I ordered my usual size, a 10.5, but I found the toe box cramped and stiff. I think a half size larger might have solved this. Otherwise it felt like a very stable shoe for trail running, some light hiking and even everyday use, particularly in slushy conditions.
By Outdoorsy Guy from Asheville, NC on 10/30/2009 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The first thing you'll notice about these shoes is the innovative lacing system. Instead of tying your laces, you twist a knob on the back of the heel to tighten. It really does a great job of tightening down to a very secure and even feel very quickly. If you decide you want them a little tighter, you give it another twist. You hardly even need to slow down. To loosen, just pull the knob and instantly all tension is released. To sum up, you can put on and take of your shoes while standing up with one hand tied behind your back - which is kind of nice.
The area around the ankle is a little stiffer than I like. It only occasionally gets uncomfortable. I'm still hopeful that it'll break in though.
By Rob D from NY & FL on 10/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these because I love the BOA lacing system. I have three other paid of North Face sneaker using this system. The feel true to size and can be worn all day. I have stepped in some puddles and my feet stayed dry. The only negative is that the lacing system button can pop if you hit something making the cable loose. This is sort of like stepping on your laces.

They have great traction, are comfortable and the lacing system rocks.
Sizing is not correct, but nice shoe By wild-blue from Cupertino, CA on 10/27/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Water Resistant Cons: Sole Wears Out Quickly Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Shoe was definitely too small. I wear 9 in all my shoes except Asics, and this was like an Asics shoe. It was labeled as a 42 Euro and I normally go with 42.5 Euro. So TNF needs to know that 9 US is equal to 42.5 Euro. Most sizing charts indicate this. All shoes need to be sized in European sizes to prevent confusion. Waiting for exchange so that I can try these out. The design looks excellent and I love the BOA system. Tread looks shallow and not very long-lasting, but Vibram is usually top-notch.
By John1811 from Keller, TX on 10/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My first time purchasing shoes with the BOA system, and I have to say I'm impressed. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I own for hiking.
By Climber Mike from Raleigh, NC on 10/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got the shoes on Friday and then wore them as my approach shoes rockclimbing on Sunday and they were great. My only complaints would be related to the BOA lacing system. I notice a slight squeak out of the left shoe as I'm walking, but it's only notice when it's quiet - which hiking through gravel and/or leaves in the wind is not. Also, I've unlocked the BOA system a couple of times while sitting - since the cleats on the front edges of the shoe are so aggressive, they grab everything, including the BOA dial. The BOA system hasn't been a problem, though - handles dirt and mud fine and I don't trip over my untied laces!
By Karl the walker from Seattle, WA on 10/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these shoes for training - walking hills with a weighted pack. They have good comfort and stability, and a durable vibram sole with good traction. I recommend adding Superfeet insoles for support. The BOA lacing system is OK, but seems to lack the adaptibility to one's foot that regular laces offer.
