This is my first merino piece from Arcteryx and I must say I'm very impressed. Heavier than the 320 stuff I've got from Icebreaker but just as high quality.
Merino is the best fabic...great product By Aub the biker from Charlotte, NC on 11/05/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, High Quality, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Everyday, Travel Describe Yourself: High-end shopper Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great product from Arcteryx. I love the brand and like that they have branched into Merino wool. Smartwool Socks, Icebreaker Tops and now Arcteryx are all great quality brands. Got to love it. It is nice having a wool hoodie this fall/winter.
Nice hoodie, made for tall and skinny. By Gearjunkie from East coast outdoorsman on 11/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, High Quality, Stylish, Warm Cons: Itchy Material, Oddly shaped hood Best Uses: Casual Wear, Everyday, Travel Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a pretty nice hoodie, particularly for the price. Not sure I would have bought it at full retail, but at [$] it's a steal. It's certainly made for tall skinny dudes, which isn't surprising for Arc'Teryx clothing. I'm 5'8" and a little more stout, so I find the arms a little long, as well as the torso. But the torso length actually works, it doesn't look as long as it feels. It's almost slimming...The hood is a strange shape, it's almost a balaclava shape. I imagine as technical wear, the hood will be warmer with less wind getting in because it's got good head coverage, but if you're expecting your 1970's cotton pullstring hood (the "Kenny" fit:-) ), it doesn't have that. In fact, there is no drawstring. All in all, it works. Fits nice, stylish. Itchier than an Icebreakers shirt so wouldn't wear it without at least a t-shirt baselayer, but not a particularly itchy wool... Breathable, will probably be excellent for skiing under a softshell or for fall biking around town.
