They work well for me because they dry quickly, are light and therfore cool. Plus they have wonderful freedom of movement.
By Hikeride&paddle from Huntington, WV on 05/19/2008 Pros: High-Quality Material and Stitching Best Uses: Camping, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are not high tech hiking pants, but at times Ilike something a little more substantial than high tech nylon hiking pants, and these fit the bill. I like them for camping and short hikes and general exploring around the forest.
I wear these daily - elastic and belt By Miles 2 Ride from MS on 05/09/2008 Pros: built in belt with elasti, Lightweight Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features, Poor Material or Construction Best Uses: Casual Wear, Motorcycling Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have worn these for years on my trips to Alaska. The stiching seems t be of less quality. These need a "cargo" pocket to keep you from loosing things out of the pockets. Other than this, I love these pants.

I have two pair I bought years ago that I've worn so much they have holes all over the place. I was so happy to see these available again.

Love built in belt but needs better clasp (breaks in dryer and slips on ocassion) BUT I love them on trips. Grab the and go in comfort. Need to add a leg (cargo) pocket.
Great pants but belt slips By Porcupine from Fairfax, VA on 01/30/2008 Pros: Fairly windproof, Good range of motion, Soft comfortable fabric Cons: Nylon belt tends to slip Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I love everything about these pants except the belt buckle, which won't hold the belt tight. I use a medium-size metal binder clip to hold the belt against the waistband, which solves the problem if you don't mind looking a bit dorky.
