By Aussie Mum from Queensland, Australia on 11/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: After Skiing/Snowboarding, Cold Weather, Snow Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are great. They are beautifully made, warm & comfortable. I bought these for both my boys to wear in Japan during winter/snow. For any Aussies, the sizing runs 1 size big. My child is a size 2 sandshoe so I ordered him US3 (UK2)and he has about a thumb distance from his toe to the front of the shoe. This is great because he will get 2 years out of them but if you want them to fit snug, I would suggest 1 size down.
By Suzy Q from Williamsburg, MI on 08/01/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: After Skiing/Snowboarding, Cold Weather, Slippery Terrain, Snow, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm a small woman and wear a size 6 or 6 1/2. I purchased the size 4 and they fit great! I am happy because they are such a great looking boot! I'm from the Midwest and purchased them in the middle of summer (got them for a great price!)and so I haven't had a chance to actually wear them in the snow yet. But I'm betting the good comments I reviewed will be the same for me since I know Columbia is a great name and they'll live up to the quality they're noted for.
By busy mommy from san frnacisco on 04/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Snow, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought size 2 to my daughter for future winter sport. They were just a little space for her, I ordered another pair with size 4 which will be for her future. they are light and comfortable, she can wear it for school in winter or rain.
My suggestion is the color (mud/Isla) is deeper color with pink strip which are beauty for girl, (tan/white) is lighter color which are good for boy or girl.
By Wisconsin Walker from Wisconsin on 04/21/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stylish Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Got these "post winter" in WI. I've only worn them a time or two to "break" them in. They are lightweight and very comfy. I wanted them mainly for walking in the winter, which I believe they will fit the bill perfectly! I am a ladies size 7-7.5, the youth size 5 fit me PERFECT! I had tried a youth 6 in some other Colmubia footwear, and it was too big...so sticking with the 5!!!
By busy mother from San Francsico, CA on 04/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Slippery Terrain, Snow, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I reviewed all the comments and believed the size will be bigger than regular. I bought size 2 thinking it will be equal to size 4, it will be good for for my 6 year old daughter next year. The size 2 is just fit her now, I need to exchange for size 4 for her next year. I think they are true to size, for children or youth, bigger is safer, at least you can wait for them to outgrown better than return or donate.
Columbia Footwear lavela boots By Mom of Iris, these were bought for her from Durham, NC on 03/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: After Skiing/Snowboarding, Cold Weather, Snow Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very attractive, snuggly warm, good solid soles with good traction.
Nice boots -- disappointing fit By LH from Indiana on 03/23/2009 Pros: Easy Entry & Exit, Stylish, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I had to return this pair of boots. It's difficult to find footware in a small and wide women's size, so I look for youth size shoes that don't look too youthful for an adult. A youth size 4 1/2 usually fits me beautifully. I ordered these in a size 5 to accomodate an extra pair of socks, but they were too tight even with just one pair of socks. A larger size would have been far too long, so I returned them for a refund.
By RunnerGirl from Va on 03/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Snow Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this boot and I bought it for myself not my child because the quality and price could not be beat. I would have paid more than twice for an adult boot for the same quality. Now I can play in the snow with my snow and be as warm and dry as him.
Know What Youth Sizes Are By alooknac from Montana on 03/07/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Entry & Exit, Good Traction, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: After Skiing/Snowboarding, Cold Weather, Slippery Terrain, Snow Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Folks, these are YOUTH sizes. A youth 5 equals a women's 7. I am a small adult woman. I consistently wear a women's 7 and often buy youth size 5, which is what I did with this boot and it fits perfectly. Men's sizes are something else and I can't advise you there.
In another review you will see that a woman bought size 6 by mistake and it fits her niece who wears size 8. Youth vs. women's differ by 2 full sizes regardless of what you hear elsewhere. Of course if it says "runs small" or large, or you want to wear extra heavy socks, you will have to adjust accordingly. But these boots are right on.
These boots are very comfortable and warm. I wonder how the nubuck will fare in messy wet snow but haven't encountered that yet. Other reviewers say they will work well. I would have preferred smooth leather.
The British Tan/Winter White does not have any pink. These boots look good and cinch up nicely. I need a good warm lightweight boot for winter walking and I am happy with these.
