Columbia make a great boot and they do run 1/2 size big. I think this has it advantages due to growing childrens feet, and adding a pair of socks.

He can get them on easily by himself with the velcro closure. His feet stay warm and dry and I can adjust how tight or loose the boots on making them more comfortable for him to wear.
