But this robe fits fine. It even has 2 pairs of loops for the tie so that isn;t up around my ribs.

I normally wear 2XL shirts/coats. This robe fits me nicely. I also bought one each for my 2XL sons. The robes fit them well too.

Enough room that I am hoping he gets a couple of years out of it before needing new.

This fits the bill. The shorter sleeves of the kimono cut were "odd" at first, but proved perfect for not getting in the way during a morning routine in the kitchen. I think I'll grow to appreciate the weight, but honestly expected a bit thicker nap. Happy to see it made in America but surprised at how much of it ended up in my lint trap after the first two washings. No worse for wear, and I do recommend it - especially at this price.
