By Kevin from Austin, Texas on 01/09/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Safe, Works Well Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use the hitch step for getting access to my roofrack and snowboards from the back of the vehicle. Since they are both getting older, thought that both my dogs would make use of it on my roadtrip to Vancouver this year, . They try to completely avoid it instead by jumping over it. I've only had it for a month so maybe time and training will allow them to take advantage of it. It works great for me, but not for my pets. I got it because it was such an amazing deal at[$]after various coupons and discounts.
"Not low enough to be a step" By Lookout labrador mom from Golden, CO. on 12/23/2008 Pros: Durable, Safe, Sturdy, Well Made Cons: Didn't provide lower step, Not lower than bumper, Only extends bumper Best Uses: Cold Climate, Warm Climate, Wet Conditions Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I needed a step for my lab with arthritis to help him in and out of our SUV. The step is well made, with a non slip surface. But when it's installed, it only extends the bumper. It's not lower than the bumper to create the step he needs from the ground to the bumper. I had a Twistep which I loved, but it broke. I was thrilled to see this one and so cheap, but I've found it useless for my dogs.

I mounted it to a front receiver hitch and have easily modified to carry fishing suppiles and a cooler. Makes a great seat or step to access roof rack.
