By Camping Crazy Girl from Huntsville, AL on 11/09/2008 Describe Yourself: Experienced Hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use it as an extra step to get in my slide-in truck camper. It is much sturdier than expected. Only improvement would be to make it just a little wider.
By Curly from Florida on 11/08/2008 Pros: Durable, Safe, Works Well Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This hitch mounted pet step is perfect for my SUV, especially since I just added a Truck Vault for storage and my dog crates are even higher off the ground than ever. It is easy to attach to my hitch so I put it on when loading the beasts and take it off when driving.
Excellent Step Add-on for SUVs or trucks By MM from Middleton, WI on 11/07/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight but strong, Sturdy Carrying Case, Works Well Best Uses: Step to access cartop Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is an excellent item at a VERY reasonable price to provide an easy way to tie down car items. It is made of light weight but very strong aluminum, holds a large man and is easy to store in it's well-constructed carrying case. I use it to tie down items on my SUV or secure kayaks/bikes in their carriers -- much better than trying to balance on the bumper. It has it's own hitch pin.
By fantom from Sacramento, Ca on 09/27/2008 Pros: Durable, Light Weight, Safe, Works Well Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Additional use if vehicle is equiped with front trailer hitch receiver. Makes a very stable platform to reach the engine compartment. Non slip surface a significant 'plus'.
May not fit receiver but since it is aluminum easy file-to-fit.
Not so useful for loading pets if mounted on rear of pickup as the tailgate blocks access unless using a hitch extension.
It's Just What I Was Looking For! By B from Oklahoma City on 08/06/2008 Best Uses: Bird Hunting, Cold Climate, Warm Climate, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Recreational Hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Lightweight. No frills. Big enough, but not too big. Fits my receiver mount just right. A worthwhile purchase.

By Piseco John from Piseco, NY on 07/30/2008 Pros: Durable, Improves Performance, Needs reflective strip on, Works Well Best Uses: Large dog owner Describe Yourself: Experienced Hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Weather-proof aluminum, light weight to install, but rugged to use.
Wish I knew of this years ago... By Cricket from NY on 07/10/2008 Pros: Durable, Improves Performance, Safe, Works Well Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Have a full size adult lab with 2 ACL repairs in the last 2 years...he really isn't into jumping into and out of the SUV... we trained him on this step in about 45 seconds. It's a no brainer for him now. What a great find !!!!!!
By kayaker from Wisconsin on 07/08/2008 Pros: Durable, Safe, Works Well Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: we bought and use the step on my husbands SUV to get the the kayaks on top with ease. It gives the added space to maneuver easily. The product is made well and is sturdy. We store it in the car with ease. I guess you'd say we like and would recommend the step!
By Owned by a wolfhound from Western Massachusetts hilltown on 06/12/2008 Pros: Durable, Good quality, Safe, Works Well Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My dog, a 135-pound Irish wolfhound, is quite cautious about unfamiliar situations, so I expected him to need a lot of persuasion to try this step. Instead, without a thought, he used it to easily enter my SUV. Perfect!
The only negative is that it is such a tight fit into the receiver that it is a bit difficult to install.
By Paul from Pacific Northwest on 06/11/2008 Pros: Has storage bag, Lightweight Best Uses: Allowing dog into back Describe Yourself: Recreational Hunter Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I've noticed that the latest catalog showing this item doesn't even mention the hitch size. My SUV has a standard 2 inch hitch and the aluminum step insert doesn't fit. It's only about 1/18th of an inch difference, so I've asked a friend to see if he can shave the metal down to fit. If not, I'll have to return it.
