Width is not 4E if I compare to comparable shoes.
I get by with the width and I have wide feet.

Toe Box Needs To Be Larger By Mardandon from Lake Ontario, NY on 07/31/2008 Pros: Breathes Well, Lightweight, Stylish Cons: Adjustment Strap Loosens, Big Toe Pops Out Sizing: Feels full size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The sandals look good but they go out of adjustment while walking causing my toe to pop out of the top hole near the toe-box. As stated in the product description, they do run a size larger.

I chose this model because I need a very wide shoe and this was available in a 4E. This sandal is not nearly as wide as other Dunham shoes(3)I have purchased in 4E. I am keeping, hoping to stretch into more comfortable width.

By naptime from Chicago, IL on 07/20/2008 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wear these every day during the summer--they're great! Comfortable, easy to adjust, breathes. Had a little trouble figuring out the right size since I usually get a 10 to allow for my wide feet but since I got wide width, the 9 was just right.

By RecontraBacan from Salem, Oregon on 07/18/2008 Pros: Air conditioned sneakers, Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Travel Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: O.K., I submitted a review on 7-10-08 saying that these sandals were definitely much longer than normal sizes, and that they weren't really all that wide. I take all that back, and I apologize if I mislead. I hope this review clarifies rather than further complicates. I will endeavor to not submit any other reviews until I've used the product for awhile. I wear an 11-11.5 ee Allen Edmonds dress shoe and they fit comfortably and loosely (I make that reference, because everyone knows those shoes are sized traditionally). I wear a 12.5 or sometimes even 13 Nike basketball shoe (Nike destroyed our Nation's shoe sizing system). After I submitted my earlier review, I changed my mind and kept the 11 4e and returned the 10 4e, and I'm glad I did. I just spent several days at a Cub Scout camp on the Oregon Coast (the scouts own about 4 miles of Oregon Coast and the thousand or so acres of forest that abuts it--pretty incredible place--they bought it for 12k in the 1920's). These sandals are awesome! I wore them with socks, and they fit perfectly, weren't too long, and I had no trouble with my toe popping out. Loose and comfortable, but stable scrambling and climbing through tide pools, on drift wood, up sand cliffs, etc. I wore them barefoot in the tide pools and on barnacle covered rocks, and they weren't too wide. They are a nice soft leather, and they dried quickly. If I were going to wear them barefoot all the time, I'd have probably wanted the 10's. I have a wide foot (e-ee), so if you want them snug on the sides, don't order the wides. Or, do what I did, order two pairs, and return the size you don't want. It's worth the effort. I'm ordering a second pair as soon as I finish this review, so there'll be one less 11 4e for ya'll to purchase.
