Not sure if it will continue with washings. I suspect they will become like any other canvas cargo pants. Seem a little larger and baggier than some brands in the same size would be. Also I worry a little that the button does not look very sturdy at the waist and may fall off after heavy use. Overall good pants if you get the right deal on them.
By sm from sj on 11/07/2008 Describe Yourself: Conditioning Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these pants to commute 10 miles each way by bike. The first day I wore them with lightweight wool long underwear and was comfortable all day. They restricted movement a bit on the bike, as the fabric is rather tough, not very stretchy. But they look good and fit nicely. On the way home I was caught in a rain storm. I saw the water bead off the pants for about 15 minutes before the exposed area above the knees became soaked. Good thing I had wool on underneath! 30 minutes later when I got home the pants were holding up pretty well elsewhere: around the bottom cuff they were still dry despite plenty of mud sticking to them; the bottom and waist area were dry; everything from the cuff to the knee was still dry; back of knee, too. This means that the water resistant spray holds up pretty well to a consistent rain. The verdict: these will be perfect for "chance of rain" days.
