By teacher and dog lover from Dixon,MO on 12/16/2008 Describe Yourself: Classic, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The coat was a major disappointment. I could not deal with the coat's zipper, it wouldn't work properly. The coat had no lining which I found strange, considering that the wool was beautiful and so was the color.
Wore it in Siberia, Moscow, New York By Elena R from Los Angeles on 12/13/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Went w/BF to translate for her during adoption of baby from Siberia. It was -27C there (-16F). Under this fantastic thick coat I wore a long sleeve shirt, fleece sweater, fleece jacket, Ugg boots, ski socks, heavy jeans, Kitchikan hat & scarf and 2 pair gloves ALL from Sierra TP. [...] I think if the coat had a linning I could have gotten away with one less layer. I wasn't cold - in fact I was too hot sometimes. The Sierra TP prices are FANTASTIC compared to regular stores in LA, going to shop STP now. I'm 5'7, 170lbs, ordered size 12 but runs big so should have gotten size 10 or even 8 if I weren't wearing so many layers underneath. However, loose was good when walking around town, climbing in/out cars with 3 layers of clothing underneath. The zipper & toggle buttons are great - toggle it going in/out of the Metro in Moscow, zip up in Ulan Ude streets when wind blows, simply slip on in NY over my dress when evening turns chilly. Coat has inside secret pockets, a toggle to hang your scarf from, snug hood to keep your hat from blowing off, big pockets outside. Too bad I won't be able to wear it in Los Angeles now because it's warm here. Pretty colors - would get another one. Don't lend this coat to anyone - you won't get it back! If you are like me - opposed to fur and hate puffy jackets because they are so ugly but need to stay warm - this is the coat for you!

Very good quality, fits large By Wool Coat Lover from Seattle, WA on 10/21/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Office Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Practical Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I read the other reviews before buying this coat and I'm glad I did. As suggested, I ordered this coat two sizes smaller than normal and it fits pretty well - still a little big in the shoulders but at least I know I can wear a sweater or other bulky clothes under it. I ordered the light blue and it is a gorgeous color. I was afraid it would be too blue but it's more of a soft grey-blue or pale sky blue. I also like the features of the coat - adjustable hood with neck protector, inside zipper pocket, and inside cell phone pocket. There is a front zipper, which is something I've never seen on a duffle coat (it also has the traditional horn buttons). I find the front zipper a little hard to zip due to the coat's length. Overall, it is a beautiful coat with nice features.
Sizing is Large, Order smaller By jellybean from New Hope, MN on 08/11/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Trendy Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Lovely color choices, a little bit big & boxy. Great with an extra fleece for cold weather. I can't wait for fall so I can pull this out. Very nice construction, looks very professional.
Nice quality, but not for me By adacorn from seattle on 08/05/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Warm Cons: Attracts lint like crazy Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Office, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Practical, Stylish Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered this one size smaller than I usually wear, and could have gone down another size. The body of the coat is very roomy, the shoulders especially so. The fabric was great. I'm sure it would stand up to all kinds of weather, but it did attract lint like crazy (I ordered the black). Ultimately it was the hood that made me decide to send it back. It was very small, and seemed a bit out of proportion with the body of the coat. The coat appears to be well made and would likely hold up over many years. I'm just sorry that it didn't work out for me...
By Sharandjoe from Minneapolis, MN on 08/01/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic, Practical Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The sizing that Sierra lists for these is not consistent from one style to the next. I ordered what was supposed to be a 16, I am a size 20 and there is plenty of extra space could have went one size down even. I love the coat and can't wait for winter now.

One of my favourite coats! By Nelly from New South Wales, Australia on 07/02/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I absolutely LOVE this coat! I was pleasantly surprised to find it has a plaid lining - I was expecting it be plain from the picture. It is super warm & the zip is quality. The cut is beautiful & the hood lays nice and flat. The red colour is great! I am absolutely delighted! Just be careful with sizes as I went down 2 sizes smaller than normal and it fits perfectly!
beautiful coat, you will love it! I do! By *shantih* from Switzerland on 05/25/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Cons: Great price, Maybe not warm enough Best Uses: Casual Wear, Formal Occasions, Office, Office Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, Practical, Stylish Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Allthough I chose 1 size smaller it feels quite big on the shoulders and chest. One size smaller would not work, because then the sleeves would be too short. In all a very pretty coat and I will most certainly enjoy wearing it.
