It was great under ski bibs, but the fitted look isn't something he would want to be seen in anywhere else. Whether or not that's a good thing depends on what you want to use these for.

No pockets on side or rear. Just a nice basic microfleece layer. I could see my son wearing these under jeans on really cold days or alone on cool days that aren't too windy. He likes to wear them around the house in winter.

I have tough time finidng the adult sizes that fit me (they are too big). These pants were too tight for me but my daughter loved the softness. They are too big for her (8-year old girl) but she loves to wear them under her night gown when she sleeps.

This is the 2nd pair she has owned. She wears a 12 slim, but the M were too short. We bought a L this time. She wears her long underwear under these and then her snow pants. She never complains that she is cold when she skiis. They r very comfortable.

They go great under water resistant pants in the snow, by themselves, under a Hallowe'en costume, to sleep in, whatever. He also wears them to his dance class in winter--I've had a hard time finding dance wear for boys locally.
