good wool coat, esp. at this price By Long Cut Chemist from Akron, OH on 09/15/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Duffley, Durable, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very solid wool duffle coat from one of the world's top makers of very solid wool duffle coats. This coat is well made in England. I bought the Navy in 40R. It comes with a fine plaid liner, and I look good wearing it. It fits over a sportcoat just fine. It's not trim -- this is outerwear -- but neither is it too bulky in cut. The shoulders on this 40R measure about 19-20", plenty wide to fit over the usual sports coat or bulky sweater. The chest is about 46-48", and from the bottom of the collar this coat is 40" long. I'm 5'11" in shoes and it falls just above the knee, which feels perfect to me. Good buy, glad to have this, expect to wear it often this winter.

Right now it is, on the coolest days here, a light jacket/ sweatshirt season.

Purchased the Navy in 42 and the fit is superb. I'm 6' 175lbs and have room for heavy sweater and even a blazer/odd jacket.
Overall, the coat is extremely well made and warm. The plaid lining is attractive, the hood offers good coverage but lies flat when not used and the toggles are robust. A great all around coat whether your a classic/trad dresser or fashion forward guy. It's all about the possibilities, however, it won't replace a quality overcoat for more formal occasions. Still, a versatile winner!
