Maybe a 2nd, but still excellent By Carlee's Grandpa from Carlisle, PA on 12/19/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good pockets in and out, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Outdoor work Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat is usual Carhartt quality. Heavy duck fabric and very sturdy construction assure durability. Good inside [with closures] and outside [deep] pockets. It is very warm for cold weather, especially if you're active, but not quite as warm as usual arctic-weight coats. But the coat is long enough to wear a vest or shirt jacket under it without the undergarment sticking out from the bottom edge of the coat. I bought the Moss color coat, as it will not show 'dirt' as readily as the common brown duck color. This is simply a very fine coat.

By Nick the cameraman from Burbank, Ca. on 11/29/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was a little hesitant to buy a 2nd. Sierra guarantees it -I gave it a shot. I am glad that I did. I went over the entire jacket and could NOT find one flaw.
This jacket is an excellent top layer. Not for wet weather! It did hold up quite well in a drizzle. I used a sweatshirt under the coat for non active situations. A t-shirt was all I needed for walking or moving situations.
Get a neck gator. I would have given it a 5+ if zipper went to the chin. This is the heaviest in weight that Carhartt carries. I called them to ask.
Draw strings work very well to adjust space so that the wind does not come in. Pocket is Sherpa lined for extra warmth.
Zipper comes up for car travel.
