It is durable, versatile, wind and weather resistant but not intended to be wind or water proof. Great weight for shouler season hiking or backpacking. The large chest zip pockets are functional for hiking and packing but for daily use are not as convenient. If your intention is for daily ue consider these pockets. The original soft shell jacket is still top notch after many years and new competitors.
By Lyis from Salem, Oregon on 02/07/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a very nice jacket. It has a very relaxed fit, and I like something a little closer fitting. I would normally wear a small to medium depending on the cut, and the xs is perfect. The only problem is that, unlike some of the other soft shells that seem to shed lint and hair, this one has the sort of texture that just picks up everything it comes in contact with -- so I am wearing my dog! Otherwise, very nice.
Very well made light weight jacket By Savvy shopper from Philadelphia, PA on 05/17/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Lots Of Pockets Best Uses: Casual Wear, Sports Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have another Cloudveil soft shell jacket and wear it so often, I got a second so I could wash the other. This model has the pockets high up so it does not interfere with backpacks or harnesses. I prefer my first which had the pockets at the sides, as the jacket looks bulky when the pockets are full. However, it is still a terrific jacket and the stretch makes it very comfortable. Cloudveil products are stylish and very well made.
My most favorite jacket!!! By The girl who loves life outside! from Seattle, WA on 02/28/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Extreme Conditions, Sports Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have had this jacket for a few years and I absolutely love it! I have worn it at 10,000 feet backcountry boarding to belaying to backpacking and to the grocery store! It's light, comfortable, breathable and works well in every condition I put it through and after a lot of wear and tear it is still holding up like new. I wouldn't suggest it in a down pour but even on wet snow days or moderate rain (and I live in Seattle) during a trail run it is perfect. This is ultimately my most favorite jacket!
