Marmot sharp point jacket By mtbiker from Bozeman My on 12/26/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am broad shouldered and need a full fit.
But I am not tall and the XL I usually need for my shoulders are too long this fit well. The stomach also did not stick out which I often find in something big enough in the shoulders.
By Ed from Wilmington, NC on 12/18/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Flexible Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great jacket for a range of conditions. Can handle everything from mild/damp conditions to cold winds with precipitation. PitZips are a must for me. The only miss is either a second interior pocket or a Napoleon pocket on the exterior, but I can't not give this 5 stars for that. I'm a tech jacket hog, so I guess I'm out of luck for the next few years.
Favorite all around Jacket By Dave from Rockaway, NJ on 12/13/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I own 4 other soft shell jackets, but was looking for one for colder temps. This jacket fits that need and more. Where I work, I ride a bike on the complex from facility to facility. So I was looking for a jacket that was flexible and durable. This jacket works great for that. I don't overhead when I cycle, and it keeps me warm on very windy days. When the temps drop below freezing, I layer a fleece under it and it works great. I own several other Marmot coats and love their quality and durability. Highly recommend. Would give it 5 stars if sleeves were shorter, but everything else is great.
all the bells and whistles, outstanding By Barber Hiker from Pikes Peak Region, CO on 12/09/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Best soft shell I've tried. Big enough to wear multiple layers underneath for cold weather. Water droplets roll off the surface and the winstopper membrane blocks the wind. Angel wing for mobility is excellent and the pit zips are essential for regulating body temperature. I'd add a chest pocket to the exterior, but nothing is ever perfect is it?
By John from Lake Wylie, SC on 11/22/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is a great all around purchase. The only downside I can say is it is not very warm, not really a problem however if you layer.
I have had jackets from The North face and Mountain Hardware and consider this a better soft shell.
By John from Lake Wylie, SC on 11/13/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this jacket after reading several review online and it has lived up to all the praise. I have several well rounded jackets but none that offer so many features as this one. The weight and compression are insane for how much this little guy can do. I would highly reccomend this jacket for everything from casual wear to the grocery store to any outdoor adventure you can plan.
By Marco the polo from NYC on 11/10/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Overall a nice jacket. It is a slightly fuller cut than my previous marmot soft shell. I wouldn't call this an athletic cut. It's a medium warm jacket that probably isn't warm enough for some.
Exactly what i was looking for By outdoor guy from Maryland on 11/08/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: i sometimes wear a medium. these fit a bit large, so a small was perfect for me. i bought it for climbing and snowboarding, but when the weather gets cold, I'll wear it daily because it looks so good, and fits great.
By medicdujour from Upstate NY on 11/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Cons: It was lighter weight tha Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: At first the fleece wt. seemed a bit light, but easy fix. When on high energy outputs it was perfect. Not a stand around keep you warm item. It's a active product. The thumb holes on the sleeve are great when really active w/gloves or layered, or reaching out w/a ice ax.
