Not what I expected, returned the item
By Ari from Central New Jersey on 10/30/2009
Pros:
Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant
Cons:
Not Warm Enough
Best Uses:
Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Advanced
Chest Size:
Feels true to size
Gear Usage:
Hiking not skiing
Sleeve Length:
Feels true to length
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I am an avid hiker and skiier. I bought this item thinking I would be wearing it on the slopes. From the reviews I read, the item appeared warm for the snowy, cold winter slopes. However, when the item arrived, I realized it was too light of a jacket and wouldn't keep me warm. It was just a shell, not really a heavy winter ski jacket. I would recommend this item more for hiking, not for extreme winter sports.

Great Jacket - Poor fit
By Giving up hope from Front Range, CO on 10/20/2009
Pros:
Breathable, Durable, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof
Cons:
Bulky, Not Enough Pockets or Features
Best Uses:
Backcountry, Downhill
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Chest Size:
Feels true to size
Gear Usage:
Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports
Sleeve Length:
Feels too long
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I've been trying to replace an old goretex shell, but being petite and a few pounds overweight makes it terribly difficult to find something that will fit. This jacket was enormous, and the previous purchase (a Marmot shell) wouldn't zip up over my hips (too tight). I'm giving up and will have to go to a retail outlet. These jackets are never made for the short person so I'll be looking in the boys and girls size 16-18 (XL).

I purchased two of these jackets after spending a long time researching- We plan to use them for an end of summer Alaskan cruise and gore-tex came highly recommended. The inside pockets will come in handy since on the excursions they do not allow you to carry bags. The sleves are long but I like it that way.

This is exactly the gore-tex shell I've been searching for! I like the color, the fit, and the features. It's perfect over a fleece for extra warmth. I've worn it halibut fishing, hiking, and rafting and it performed really well in all situations.

Comments:
Wanted a lightweight but warm waterproof jacket for our excursions in Alaska. And I wanted it to look stylish enough to wear anytime, not just while hiking and camping. And I like to look like a girl, not a girl in her husband's jacket.

I don't down hill ski, but do a lot of cross country as well as camping in all types of weather. I wanted something a little more versitile. I also find in a good down pour a shell will still let the water in. I wanted gortex and a jacket that had the pockets and adjustments needed to keep the rain out. Oh and something stylish! It's Perfect!

Bought this after finding out in New Zealand torrential rains that my 12 year old rainjacket leaked. Wish I would have had the Marmot there!! Have worn it almost every day since I got it a week and 1/2 ago. Lastest great day=skiing at Winter Park, CO in the sunshine, yet windy. Kept me warm, yet not too warm. Pit zips great too.
