By Hiker chick from Cambridge, MA on 08/20/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I bought this to go under the Golite Phantasm shell. When I got the shell, I told myself it was generously sized to fit an underlayer. When I got the Cayenne, I had to admit they were both a "unisex" fit with a drawcord waist in the shell. I would've returned the med Cayenne for a small (even as a 34C top), except that the hip was at capacity with the medium. I give up, it's all unisex. My BF is about to order the large in the Cayenne to go with his men's med shell, if that tells you anything! So I'd recommend this item to a BOY friend, or flatter chested, small hipped girl friend.
Yes, the light nylon leaks down, fact of life for the weight.
By Malee from Boulder CO on 08/11/2008 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice, fits well, quality construction. Very light, more like a sweater.
leaky down, annoying zip, not very warm By bluewombat from Geelong, Australia on 07/13/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight Cons: Difficult zip, Down loss, Inadequate Protection, Not very warm, Wears Out Quickly Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The down leaks from the seams of this jacket, leaving white pile on undergarments and car seats! The zipper is complicated to do up, it can get stuck easily. Go-lite's claim of 800 fill power down is not credible - the jacket is not very warm, more suited to indoor use on a cold day than outdoor protection. Nice cut, colour and style however. A shame I will have to return it.
Well designed comfortable jacket By casual girl from Seattle on 07/09/2008 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket looks and feels good however it's the wrong season to get a good feel for it's performance. I decided to keep it and give it a try this fall when the weather turns colder.
By Marin backpacker from San Rafael, CA on 06/13/2008 Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The color is very wierd and I didn't like the lining. I bought it for a lightweight backpacking layer but felt that the wrist closure was not very good and the zipper was small and hard to work. I returned it
Nice and light, zipper just OK By Rich from NH on 06/05/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Nice, light and fairly warm/windproof. Bought 2 womens XL's for my wife and I, both 5'8" and medium builds. Fit her a little loose, me a little tight, OK though. Nice lighter replacement for fleece coats.
The hidden Zipper apparently needs to be treated tenderly, and is fairly tough to zip without snagging.
By Sun lover from Palo Alto, CA on 05/18/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice looking jacket. Light as a feather and warm as toast. Highly recommend!
By Mountain Maiden from Durango Colorado on 05/09/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Lots of big pockets, Warm, Well Made Cons: Difficult to zip, Poor Fit, Ugly colors Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a typical Golite product - extremely lightweight and packable, and of good quality - with poor fit and ugly color selection. They seem to be sized to fit fashion models, not real women. I usually wear a size 2-4 top and 6 pants, but had to order a size large in order to have it fit around the hips. The sleeves are way too long. I have purchased other Golite jackets and the sizing is always the same. I even contacted the company once to complain, asking them if they just cut down the mens sizes to try to fit women. They were very defensive, stating that one of their founders was a woman. Despite the poor fit and yucky color selection, you gotta love the cute lining, and super light weight cuddly warmth. This will be perfect for cold mornings when camping, daily wear in winter and to carry on spring and fall hikes.
By Elise Bundy from Sunapee, NH. on 04/28/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Snowshoeing, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered this jacket in two colors and two sizes because I was not sure which one I wanted. I ended up keeping both! I wanted a lightweight jacket to snowshoe in when it was not too cold! We live in NH and we have very long winters. This was perfect. On extremely cold nights snowshoeing I would wear my long down coat, but this will do the trick for me in late winter! Great buy!
incredibly lightweight and warm jacket By Lulu from Portland, OR on 04/23/2008 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: stylish and warm. I bought this for a backpacking trip where every oz counts, but I have been wearing around town and appreciate being able to cram into a daypack easily. I really like the lining of the jacket-it's a retro print and the fabric has a very soft flannel like feel.
