Bare Bones Rain Jacket
By Rhody Coyote from Rhode Island on 08/06/2008
Pros:
Good Weight
Cons:
Poor Ventilation
Best Uses:
Wet Weather
Describe Yourself:
Gym Rat
Fit:
Feels too big
Sleeve Length:
Feels too long
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
While this coat keeps the rain off I do not like the fact that there is not even a thin liner to keep the water resistant fabric off your skin and clothes. I'll wear it in the rain over another light jacket but it is not really comfortable.

Not sure about this one...
By Ether EnvyVerified Reviewer from Cambridge, MA on 07/31/2008
Best Uses:
Casual Wear
Describe Yourself:
Weekend Warrior
Fit:
Feels true to size
Sleeve Length:
Feels true to length
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I should start out by saying that I was looking for an ultra light rain jacket to carry on summer hikes that was breathable and soft enough to wear for bug/ sun protection in warm conditions. I returned the Thunder jacket after trying it on because my boyfriend's golite Ether jacket arrived the same day and his was so much nicer for our purposes it made me jealous. The Thunder jacket was stiffer, which I guess might hold the weight of heavy raindrops away from your body if all you want is a light raincoat. For my use, it wasn't so great. The zipper flap had velcro, which can be annoying if you want to wear a jacket unzipped and not have it catch on your expensive wicking top. It wasn't too bad a jacket, but for the same price on STP, I could do better. This seemed like a summer rain jacket that is not rugged enough for layered winter shell use or light/breathable enough to use as sun/ bug protection, so it didn't suit my needs.
