High performance rain jacket By jimmybrox from Ohio on 10/19/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Orange is a great color, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great deal at the most recent steep discount. You will be hard pressed to find a more serious rain jacket than this. However, I would give it a 4.5 if I could only because of the fact that it is noisy.

By J3 from Michigan on 09/14/2009 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Jacket is comfortable and effective at keeping you dry. Adequate space to layer.
Bottom hem is cut a bit short for my taste (generally I prefer the longer tail of a "parka" style cut to keep my backside dry, but I chose greatly reduced weight over bomb-proof pro this time).
Overall, it is a good value.
By Urban Mountain Guy from Denver, CO on 08/03/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Some reviews have sighted that the lack of a detachable hood is a negative. To the contrary, this is extreme foul weather gear, and having a continuous hood makes it all the more water repellent. Stow hoods can create small rain reservoirs, and worse, detachable hoods w/ zippers can allow moisture down the back. This jacket/shell the single best I've ever owned in combining breathability, water resistance, construction, style and value. Without reservation, this is a terrific product.
By Outdoor photographer from Calgary, AB on 04/21/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight Cons: Hood is not detachable Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good jacket. It is light and is very comfortable. The seams are sealed as well as the pockets have the water resistant material over the zippers. Only complaint is the hood is not detachable. Other than that a very good deal.
By Jacki from Sausalito, CA on 04/10/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm female and purchased this jacket for myself, returned the medium and purchased a size small. It fits perfectly and I'm a size 6 or 8. The small allows me to have a fleece jacket or sweater on as an under layer. And the jacket is long enough to cover my hips for those down pours. The sleeves are a little long but then I am a petite. Overall I really like this jacket, upgraded from an older Patagonia. I haven't been out in a real down pour yet, so I can't speak to the waterproofness in this condition, but it is Columbia's most extreme waterproof fabric, and I am counting on that.
By WISki from Northern Wisconsin on 01/21/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice jacket. It would be nice if it had a provision for stowing the hood. With proper layering it could be a nice ski jacket, but with no powder skirt it would need bibs instead of pants.
By Major Ho from Northern Virginia on 01/15/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I took a chance on this because of the sale going on. The lack of pictures and lack of detail whether or not it was compatible with other Columbia gear was unnerving. Turns out this IS compatible with their 5-point Interchange system. Not zip in compatible though which I suspected from the get go. Additional pictures would have cleared up most of these concerns.
Other then that great construction, seems very waterproof from the indoor inspection. Gotta try the real world next.
