anticipating great things By exercisejunkie from branchville,nj on 02/20/2009 Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't worn this jacket yet. Right now the only wet weather we have is snow. Red is my favorite color though and I was looking for a waterproof rainjacket. This fits the bill. There is a large hood that fits over my bike helmet. When the hood is down the standup collar, which closes with velcro, comes up to your chin but is loose so you don't feel like you are being choked. That feature seems like it would block the wind very well. As I am short and expect to use this jacket in a variety of ways I sized up to a large to make sure it wouldn't be tight anywhere. Now I can wear it biking or have a warm layer underneath.
By Elizabeth from New Hampshire on 12/25/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just an awesome over all winter or general waterproof jacket. I use it mostly for mountaineering but it is great for every day wear too. It is a bit short in the torso but the arms are plenty long. FYI I'm a 6' tall 145lbs and the medium was perfect.
Light, Waterproof, Great Hood! By Hoping to Hike a Glacier from Canada on 11/22/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Roomy Hood Brim, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Cons: Front zipper not covered Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I originally ordered a different Lowe Alpine Gore-Tex jacket that had a collar and a hood but got this jacket instead and I am so glad I did! What really stands out on this jacket is the hood design. When looking for a waterproof jacket the hood is incredibly important, especially if you wear glasses. The hood is exceptionally roomy and has a very large stiffened brim. The rain stays off your head (and your glasses) no matter how much the wind tries otherwise. The jacket is unbelievably light and has a great fit.
My only complaint is that there is no cover over the zipper. There is protection on the inside and the zipper appears to be coated. I haven't had any problems with water getting in through the zipper but it does seem strange.
keeps me dry in heavy rain By the one with all the border collies from Ocean Shores, WA on 11/18/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear this jacket while walking on the beach every morning with my dogs. We go no matter the weather, and it gets very windy with heavy rains in the winter. It has kept me totally dry in very heavy rainfall. My only complaint is the material is a little stiff and I have not been able to get the hood to cinch down around my face. When I am walking into the wind, it blows up like a parachute. Other than that, I love this jacket.
Good value, and very lightweight By Wet in the Pacific northwest from Seattle, WA on 11/10/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Wet weather living Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is great for the pacific northwest where it rains alot and is damp and chilly. The jacket is big enough to wear a heavy weight fleece underneath and not feel bulky. I wish the pockets were a little bigger, but they will do. Have only had the jacket a short time, but so far so good.
