By Bird Girl from South Lake Tahoe, California on 10/07/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Stylish, Versatile Cons: Too snug in hip area Best Uses: Backpacking, Casual Wear, Skiing, Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm on my second Cirque jacket, having purchased the first one in 1999. It's a perfect jacket for backpacking, cross-country skiing, and with a base layer and sweater underneath, a great backcountry and in-bounds ski jacket. It is not a rain jacket, but will shed light amounts of moisture. The only time I wear a shell over it is during wet snow storms or in rainy weather. It breathes very well, and as a result is not completely wind-proof. It doesn't stink even after a week of use backpacking.
My only complaint is this jacket seems to run small in the hips. I am 5'4" and a fit and muscular 140 pounds. I had to buy the large because the medium won't stay put over my hips. It rides up to my narrow waist and stays there. Having to wear a large makes the sleeves a touch long for me, but with the elastic at the wrist, the sleeves don't fall over my hands. Just a little more room--an inch or so--in the hip area would have made it possible to purchase the medium.
By Floresta from NY on 04/02/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just didn't fit well - cut was bulky. Loved the color and the style, but needed to be more streamlined.
By Chrys from Zurich, Switz on 03/26/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Extreme Conditions, Sports, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this jacket for a hiking trip and I've been wanting an IBEX for a long time. I am 5'6, 135 lbs, and am always on the line between a medium and a small and I went with the Medium, well I'm sending it back today for a small. When something doesn't fit well, I won't wear it. It's baggy around the middle, not fitted at all. SO if you are around my size go for the small! otherwise, perfect softshell. My boyfriend wears his for everything and he's been wearing it for 2 years now (men's version- icefall).
Excel Jacket - Both Stylish & Practical By Paulie from Edmonds, WA on 02/22/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Stylish, Warm, Well-Made Best Uses: Casual Wear, Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is sharp and looks great with jeans! I run, take cross-training classes, and lift weights - this jacket wicks away the moisture, without leaving a smell behind like some lycra fabrics and yet stays toasty warm. Goes from the gym to the weekend. It's a little pricy so I gave it 4 stars, but I enjoy mine all the time and am thinking of a 2nd one as a treat.

I am wearing it almost daily with our late season indian summer weather. With a warm layer under it, I can probably wear it most of the winter. I bought one size up and it fits perfectly.

My wife loves it. Pit zips would have been a great addition for better ventilation
By Frieda from Minneapolis on 10/17/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Good Weight, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Sports, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Conditioning Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Cirque is a comfortably warm jacket for chilly Minnesota fall days. The sleeves are long enough for someone tall like me. The material sheds water on drizzly days. I even wear this jacket at work on casual days with a T underneath. I haven't yet been through a winter with it, but can see use for cross country skiing and running as well...although there may not be enough ventilation for heavy exercise.
