By Kate from Seattle, WA on 02/12/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Stylish Cons: Irregular Size, Shoulders too wide Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Office, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a beautiful coat EXCEPT that it is cut so poorly with the shoulders so large that the upper arms catch. If the shoulders are pulled in, the upper arms are not constricting. Can't imagine this being comfortable on anyone due to this poor design.

Stylish Winter Coat, Can Layer By silverfern from Chapel Hill, NC on 01/24/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Versatile Describe Yourself: Classic, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Pros: It is a "pretty" red -- not too dark and not too bright. The wool is finely made, and the overall coat is well constructed. The description that the coat is a loose fit for winter wear underneath is accurate. Do buy a size smaller than your usual size if you prefer a tight fit AND live in a mild climate in winter (upper 40s to low 60s F). The coat is perfect for mild winter weather, although that is also a Con (see below). The coat, after a week or so of wearing it, is of good quality and will hold up over time, I think.
Cons: This is not a cold weather coat without a liner or something underneath it. If you live in higher elevations, in the mid-West, or the NE, I would recommend this as a Fall or Spring coat, unless you wear a liner with it. I live in the Southeast USA, and the coat arrived when temps dipped to the upper 20s and low 40s. The first time I tried it on, I regretted getting the "correct" size, as the coat was loose, but the first time I had to wear the coat outside I was glad I had the extra room, b/c it gave me the space to wear a bulky sweater or a liner from another jacket underneath it to aid in keeping warm against the cold. However, this is also a pro, as when temps are warmer, I won't be too hot.
By Frugal Me from Portland, OR on 01/22/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Gorgeous fabric, Stylish Cons: Too wide in the shoulders Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Office, Travel, Work Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, High-end shopper, Stylish Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Even though this coat is wonderful ... the wool is amazing, and the craftmanship of the tailoring is the best ... but, unfortunately I will be sending it back. As another reviewer mentioned, it's very broad through the shoulders. I looked like a line backer! I think this could be an amazing coat for the just the right person ... unfortunately, it just wasn't right for me.
By Tall Mom from Wisconsin on 01/22/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Great for tall woman, Nice silky lining, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical, Stylish Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this coat. The charcoal is a nice dark, rich color - less severe than black or navy. The wool is fairly soft with a bit of texture. It is lined with a very nice, silky satin that feels great and slides well over clothes. I am tall so the length and sleeve length are perfect for me. There are buttons and button holes on both sides to allow buttoning on either side. The shoulders are bit too wide but it works well with layers. I might see if I can get some tailoring done in the shoulders. The only real complaint I have is that the sleeves bind my upper arms strangely when driving. It's not a problem if I remember to pull the sleeves up a little bit when driving. This is a warm, practical, attractive coat - longer than some of the shortish, modern pea coats I see.

The arms are a little long but I don't mind that at all.
I use this coat as a casual car coat.

I'm glad I didn't order a size down. The navy is dark navy color, which I like. I think I will be wearing this for years to come.
