By etaine from boston on 10/05/2009 Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a nice looking vest but the fabric is a bit stiff and does not bend easily, making it not the most comfortable vest / mid layer to use.
By etaine from boston on 10/05/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a perfect wind jacket - light and portable for h hiking; repels the rain and has just enough fleecey lining to give you a little bit of warmth - best when the temperature has dropped just a few degrees and you need to warm up or when there is a light mist.

Marmot Firefly Vest Offers Full Coverage By ydydal from Iowa on 04/25/2009 Pros: Durable, Long Length, Straight Cut, Warm, Windproof Cons: Heavy, Not terribly fitted Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Hiking Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As all Marmot products, this vest is very well made and has lots of great bells and whistles. I love the 'stretchy' fabric feel, almost like a soft shell jacket. It does have a rather straight cut though, not fitting as closely as many vests out there. It has full coverage, fitting well below the waist. Because of this, it's just a tad heavy for considering use on any type of extended backcountry trip. It's perfect for both casual wear and short trips where weight is not an issue.
By pcs from Ellensburg, WA on 04/19/2009 Pros: Stylish, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels too small Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Springtime gets really windy here in eastern Washington, and this vest does the trick. It's perfect for daily use, especially for the days that are not so bad that I need sleeves and a hood. I got the amethyst in extra-small, and am thrilled with the bright, cheery color and the great fit. I usually wear a size 0-2, but the XS (allegedly 4-6) fits me perfectly. One caveat: I thought that this vest would be fleece on the inside, with a smoother surface on the outside. However, the exterior surface is a single-layer of fleece with a short, dense pile. I'll be taking a lint-roller to it often to keep the dog hair off. That's the only thing that I wish I could change about this vest... otherwise, it is perfection.

Heavy enough to wear on it's own - light enough for under a jacket and the color is awesome.
