Nice shorts. Odd belt design. By Proton Kid from Etown Ky on 06/14/2008 Pros: Dries Quickly, Durable, Lightweight, Soft, Stylish Best Uses: Canoe, Casual Swimming, Kayak Describe Yourself: Weekend Warrior Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Shorts fit great. Comfortable, quick drying, plenty of pockets. The built in belt has an odd design that is affixed to shorts in the back which makes them not tighten as you would expect. Otherwise fantastic.
By Christov_Tenn from Loathsome Stepford on 06/10/2008 Pros: Dries Quickly, Lightweight, Waist Will Cinch Tighter Cons: Built-In Nylon Belt, Fabric Feels Odd, Feels a Little Short Best Uses: Summer Kayak Paddling Describe Yourself: Weekend Warrior Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I bought these to replace a pair of NRS paddler's trunks, don't recall what NRS calls them. Lost about 15# with Weight Watchers & needed something that wasn't going to slip off when practicing wet-exits and self-rescue.
The great thing about these shorts is, when standing, they hang to about my knee. The thing that sucks about them is that when I"m seated, they draw up to just below mid-thigh. To the good, however, they're lined with those usually irksome mesh briefs that, in this instance, help keep one's genitalia private.
The other great thing about these shorts is they've got a built-in nylon belt that I can cinch tighter, and an elasticized band around the waist, as well. The other thing that sucks about them is that nylon belt is tacked down in back with a stitch or two preventing the end with the cinch buckle from moving freely as you tighten them, effectively limiting the degree to which they can be tightened.
Odd thing about these shorts is the fabric feels strange, and felt, when I handled them before use, as if they left a residue of some sort on my hands. Possibly some treatment intended to boost the fabric's vaunted SPF rating.
I wore them first time at a TSRA Duck River paddling activity last Saturday - drove a long way to and from the put in, about three, four hours on the water, went swimming in them. No problems. Some handy zippered pockets to keep spare key and chapstick.
