I bought as a work bag to hold a leather folder and perhaps a clipboard, along with my regular items (cosmetic bag, umbrella, wallet, newspaper, paperback book and sunglasses). Unfortunately it is too big for my needs. While I can definitely carry all of the items listed, it still had extra room due to the width causing things to slide around. There is a dedicated internal pocket which has slots for pens, cell phone, and a zippered pocket for items that may require the security of not sliding around in the body of the bag.
I would definitely suggest that one purchase the small instead if looking to carry the listed items or less. However, it is an exceptionally sturdy bag which I've turned into my carry-on for travel. It would also likely be a good diaper bag b/c it could store diapers, blanket, clothes, wipes, bottles, etc.
One drawback that any consumer should note is that the velcro straps and clips prohibit the user from accessing small items easily. For me, being able to access keys and my train pass without fumbling is very important. Keep this in mind when purhasing.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The bag is perfect work briefcase and weekend getaway bag. The internal zipper compartment has plenty of space for a cellphone, pda, iPod, business cards, and keys. Plenty of room for files, a laptop, and exercise gear.It is also great for weekend trips. The cross strap keeps the bag in place when I cycle home. All around a great bag and very well constructed.

It was the perfect under-the-seat size, had pockets for everything, and made it easy to find what I was looking for, even in a cramped space. It was also convenient for lugging around airports and held a ton of stuff.
